been there, done that

"Being both a professional racer and cyclist, I feel I have unique knowledge and experience that marries the two disciplines together in the most productive way. "

                                - CHARLIE MULLINS

All About Charlie

Charlie started riding dirt bikes at the age of 3. What started off as a family activity continued to grow over the years. Charlie raced his first GNCC in 1999, where he raced the youth class. From 2000-2005, Charlie raced various amateur classes before moving to the XC1 class in 2006. He was instantly a top 3 competitor in a stacked international line-up. After 10 years of professional racing, Charlie suffered career ending double wrist injuries that forced him to hang up his boots. He instantly put on cycling shoes and got to work! Charlie quickly excelled as he started to build his fitness base for the grueling cycling world. Charlie continues to race both domestic and international cycling events as a Specialized athlete ambassador.

Charlie has spent the last 5 years exclusively training the Factory FMF/KTM off-road team, but recently decided to transition from the team training model to personally training individual riders, varying in age, skillset, and ability.  During his time as a professional GNCC racer, he worked with multiple trainers over the years. He was able to learn a little bit from each trainer and apply that knowledge to building his own philosophy, both as a rider and a coach.  Once his GNCC career ended, he switched his focus to professional cycling and has continued to learn new ways of integrating off-the-bike training into on-the-bike results.

Charlie lives in western Pennsylvania with his wife and 3 boys.

My Philosophy

I will be the first to say that my training program is not for everyone. I am not an inspirational motivator, I will not babysit you (or your child), nor will I push you to do something that you’re not interested in doing. It’s your life and your career - it’s up to you to make it happen.

I am looking for riders that want to hustle. For those that want to make lasting gains by putting in the hard work.  I can give you all the tools and directions you need to succeed, but, in the end, it is your grit, passion, and determination paired with these tools that help you reach your goals. In my experience, that is not a teachable quality, but something innate and polished over time. My approach is for those that are self-motivated and simply need guidance on what to do.  Riders that need someone to  lead the way, but do not need constant encouragement or reminders to simply do the work.
